No, this is not due to an Oil Spill. Did you know there are numerous fine Ruby crystals scattered in space? Now you do. I found this in an article I recently came across, that the celestial dust around quasars may contain huge crystals of fine Rubies & Sapphires. (a starlike object that may send out radio waves and other forms of energy; many have large red shifts. They are highly luminous massive celestial bodies centered about a black hole)
Maybe God just forgot to place them on Earth or he wanted to give us an excuse to travel beyond horizons!
