Elizabeth Taylor's Ruby and diamond ring, studded with a Pigeon Blood Red Ruby weighing 8.24 carats was a gift from her then husband, Richard Burton on the Christmas Eve of 1968.
Burton once promised Elizabeth Taylor he would buy her a special ruby, with perfect red color. He kept the ring in the Taylor's Christmas stocking as a surprise gift for her.
The estimated value of the ring is $1.5 million dollars but I expect the ring to fetch a lot more, maybe even over $2.5 Million given its association with the Elizabeth Taylor and her passion for jewels.
Update: The Ring was sold for $4,226,500 dollars yesterday, around three times its estimated price! Well, I would just say, 'I told you so'.
