Stunning Ruby and Diamond Necklace is a part of the jewelry suite gifted to Elizabeth Taylor by her third husband Mike Todd. The necklace was designed by Cartier and came into her possession in August 1957. The estimated price of the remarkable necklace is around $200,000 – $300,000 and will be auctioned by Christie's next week.
During her marriage to producer Mike Todd, Elizabeth Taylor was swimming laps in the pool at their villa in St.-Jean-Cap-Ferrat when he surprised her with this suite of Ruby jewels. In her book My Love Affair with Jewelry she has been quoted ,
“He was holding a red leather box, and inside was a ruby necklace, which glittered in the warm light. It was like the sun, lit up and made of red fire.” - Elizabeth Taylor.
Mike Todd died in a plane crash on 22 March 1958 while he was still married to Taylor.

What gives this jewelry special importance is its association with Elizabeth Taylor than its absolute monetary value. What do you think about this special piece of jewelery? Share your comments and reactions below.
Updated: The Necklace was auctioned for a whooping sum of $3,778,500 dollars yesterday. I think it just proves how special piece is, isn't it?
